Pike Dreams

On the final weekend of "big" game fishing season here in MN I opted for some good old tip-up fishing for pike on Lake Minnetonka.  Good friend Joe Ringus hosted a large group of us for the first annual Flag Fest!  We had flags up all day long making for some great tip up races and many laughs.  Needless to say it was a great success and some great pike were caught by our group. 

We caught all of our fish on a shallow weed edge on sucker minnows.  Everyone was able to get in on the hot "flag" up action.  

Thanks Joe for having such a great idea and hosting us all to your "lake place" for flag fest.  Even if I was wearing designer jeans.....

Ice Road Turns Ice Trolling

Spent a day on Leech Lake "ice trolling" (drilling many holes and moving often) in search of perch and walleyes. I was joined by Brad Leuthner, Peter Dunlap, Dusty Mahn, and "Fast" Eddie Peters. We were able to ice enough nice fish for a great fish fry over the weekend.

You Wanna See Stress?!

This is a short clip of what it looks like at both slow mo and real time of my hook set on a flip'n bite. As you can see the G. Loomis GLX Flipp'n Stick takes a serious amount of stress all the way down to the handle upon my hook set. Pretty awesome to see how strong they are.
