As Good As It Gets

The fishing report for Lake Mille Lacs is good to say the least. Hit the water of Mille Lacs yesterday with Jay Moore and was able to get into some decent walleye action. Jay and I got on the water in time for an evening bite and we opted to put the boat in at Harbor Inn in Garrison and run NE to fish the sand and then ran back a little ways to fish a sundown bobber spot.
We boated 5 walleyes on our outing with the biggest fish going 26". We ended up catching all of our fish on the bobber spot with leeches on a plain gamakatsu hook.
I got in on the action as well with this dandy 22" raw rye.
Jay also showed me the new way to eat while on the water. He showed up with a charcoal "tool box grill" and proceeded to make popper app's and then steak kabobs on the grill. This thing was the greatest thing I have ever seen for a boat or outing like this. It just took the adventure to a whole new level. Needless to say my order for a charcoal tool box grill has been placed. It made for a great dinner on the water while we caught gravel lizards!
Jay backed up his 26" fish with this nice 23"er. We caught all of our fish in 12' of water with a hard bottom. We were fishing bobbers about a foot off the bottom and the best bite was from 8:30-9:30. Hope everyone gets a chance to get on the water this weekend. Until next time, Fish On!
