I Go For A Swim

What a morning on the water?!  I was back on Lake Waconia this morning for more of the hot action!  I was hoping I could get more big girls to eat.  My hopes and dreams all came together this morning.  An hour into the morning and I was hooked up on a nice mid 40" fish only to have it jump off.  About an hour later I was hooked up for the second time and doing battle, and it was going crazy!  This 47" fatty was not far from where we saw 3 big fish the other day.  I found myself running around the boat trying to keep it out of the outboard motor then trying to keep it out of the trolling motor.  When a fish this size decides it wants to go one direction or the other you just better be ready.

After a few pics it was time to put her back.  That is where it gets interesting!  I was trying to lay down on the edge of the boat to hold her tail until she was revived and ready to go when all of a sudden I found myself falling over board.  Yep, I went for a swim with the muskie.  After jumping back in the boat I once again grabbed the fish and got her on her way.

She eventually swam off under her own power.  After running in to get a change of clothes we were back at it.  The fishing continued to get better.  I hooked up again an hour later only to have the fish tear off.  Went another 100 yards and had another chance, then another 50 yards and Brian was hooked up only to tear off.  When the water settled and it was all said and done we saw 5 fish and had 4 of them on.  We only put the one 47"er in the boat.  I have had so much fun fishing the old stomp'n grounds this past week.  Made for a lot of memories.  I will be back on Lake Minnetonka tomorrow morning in search of the big girls.  Needless to say I will be back on Waconia soon!  When I took off this morning the air temp was 46 degrees and the water has now dropped to 66 degrees!  The fish are acting like it is mid fall.  Stay tuned for more after tomorrow.
