Spent the last few days in Wisconsin with good friends Glen Perkins, Peter Dunlap, and Jeremy Bester attempting to shoot a whitetail buck deer.  We were not succesful at harvesting any deer but we did manage to see lots of deer.  Glen was also able to enjoy a bit of trout fishing in between hunts.

The Dunlap farm in Montello Wisc has big deer on it, we just have yet to get in front of one.  We have many pictures of trophy class whitetails.  It's just a matter of time and I will have one of these fattys on the ground.

On this trip to the farm we did something we had never done before.....no we didn't shoot a giant. lol :)  We took a rain day trip to the Mathews Solocam Bow Factory in Sparta Wisc.  It was a neat trip and very informational.  We were able to spend part of the day with media planner Mike Ziebell and learn about some of the history of Mathews Solocam bows.

We put this trip together after all of us did an afternoon of practice shooting and realized we all shoot mathews bows.  Glen and Pete are both shooting the Drenalin, Jeremy is on the DXT(kid can make a kill shot out to 70 yards), and yours truley is shooting the ever so sweet 6.5 Reezen(door knob one).....don't ask, it is that fast!

Spot Crush, Lake Lanier

My first few weeks in Gainesville, GA on Lake Lanier are in the books and I am left speechless.  Not sure where to start but here goes nothing.

Pictured above is my brother Jim with a giant Lanier spotted bass.

I fished for bass almost everyday I was there.  The weather was a bit brutal but it didn't keep me off the water.  It rained almost every day, and was in the 30's every morning.  The lake was a foot over full pool.  First time it has been full pool in 5 years.  Just 18 months ago the lake was in a major drought and was down 50 plus feet.

I hit the water with local bass expert Nick from Hammonds, and we were able to catch some spotted bass.  Size wasn't great but for this time of year we really couldn't complain.  Most of our spotted bass came on a drop shot rig with a few coming on top water.

The view off the deck of the new plush digs!
