Still catching a few

p5240014.jpgWes, Dale, and Fred all got in on some of the Lake Waconia walleye action.  We finished the evening with 6-7 walleyes with our best bite from 8:30-9:30 p.m.

The warm weather has the fish biting light but when you do get them they are nice fish.  Most of our fish are coming on a jig and a leech combo.

Crawlers are producing some nice fish on the sand.

I had a great time fellas and hope we can get out to do it again.

Oops, I did it again

27inwalleye2.jpgThe walleye bite is still on!  Went out on Thursday with Andy and did it again.

We finished the night with 16 walleyes.  We threw back 11 with the biggest going 27", about 8-8 1/2 pounds.

Most of our fish are coming on a jig and a leech.  Have still been catching a few on minnows and crankbaits but the majority have been caught on leeches.

Our best bite has been for about an hour before dark.  A few fish have been caught before 8:30 and a few after dark but not much.  If it gets overcast we have been able to catch them a little earlier but not much.  When the sun is behind the trees you should be hitting them hard.

guidedwalleye.jpgYou will want to focus on hard bottom very close to good weed cover if you want to try and get in on some of this hot action on your own.

I am still finding some fish up shallow at or after dark.  The fish that are moving up are aggressive and do hit crankbaits.  If the fish continue to feed like this for the rest of the summer I will have a banner year.

For those of you that do fish you know it won't last after this heat they are predicting next week so if you want to try and hit some hot action you need to call or e-mail me soon.

This has been one of the most historic walleye weeks that I have ever seen for a metro lake.

Until next time.  Good Luck and Fish On!

Walleyes anyone?

summer 06 01002.jpgGetting while the getting is good!

Well, needless to say we did it again last night.  The bite is crazy for walleyes right now.  The weather has been consistent since Sunday and the fish have responded by biting very good.

Wing Nut and I caught another 14 last night and kept 9.  If Wing Nut could keep from losing any we probably would have topped 20 again last night.

We had a magnificent fish fry last night at Hoppers after we were all done cleaning.  summer 06 00902.jpg

The action may start to slow soon so get off the couch, the lawn mower, the computer, and call me to arrange some action like this for yourself.
