Wildy Walleyes Are Biting

P5210016.JPG

Amazing how much easier it is to catch walleyes when your hook is in the water.  I have been an arm chair fisherman the last week, but last night I changed that.  My schedule has been a bit crazy the last month or so.  I got home from Missouri one week ago and had not been able to get out walleye fishing but once on Minnetonka.  The bite was tough the night I was out.

The wind and weather has been a large factor.  I don't ever remember the wind blowing day after day.  One day it's out of the north at 20 plus and the next day it is out of the south at 20 plus.  I finally gave in last night and told myself it was time to do battle.  I arrived at the first spot and with in 10 minutes had boated a 2o" walleye.  We continued to fish the area with jigs and leeches and managed to pull 6 or 7 more fish off this very small spot.  The quality of fish was very good, I would have liked to catch a few more (never good enough), but for my first time chasing walleyes on Waconia I was pleased.  Waconia always seems to put out nice fish for me.  It has year after year.   These fish all fell victim to a pink jig and either a leech or a minnow.  The bite is going to continue to be good for the next few weeks.  So get your reel spooled up, grab some bait, and get on the water.

Now why couldn't I catch any like this during the tournament?

The fog was dense before take off in the morning.  They delayed blast off by almost 40 minutes becasue of it.  Really hurt our early morning topwater bite.  This is the view of boats going out in front of us.  The next picture will be looking behind us.

There were 286 boats in the tournament.  They were packed back thick in the back of this bay.  What a zoo at take off.

Table Rock

Arrived safely at the Kimberling Inn on Table Rock Lake late Friday night and have been enjoying every minute.  It is a beautiful lake and surrounding area.  I can't say enough good about this place.  Fishing has been fair but is getting better with every day we spend on the water.  Caught some nice Spotted Bass (Kentucky strain), Largemouth, and Smallmouth today.  As well as some monster White Bass (don't count in the tourney).  I will try and get pictures up here in the next day or so.  We have three more days of practice and then the big show on Saturday!  Can't wait to get started.  Wish me luck and until next time, FISH ON!

P.S.  MN has GREAT bass fishing......We have fished many hours for a few three pounders!

Look forward to getting into some walleye action when I get home.  Travis don't you dare catch them all.

Miss y'all!  Joni, Happy Birthday yesterday.  You're in my thoughts and prayers.
